Our Philosophy

Since the end of WWII the output of chemical molecules into the environment has risen drastically. Many of these toxic molecules find their way into the body through the various skincare and makeup products that many people use daily. In fact, a study done by the Environmental Working Group, a non profit advocacy group, found that the majority of the products sold in the United States fail to meet one or more industry or governmental cosmetics safety standards.

The study of the relationship between environmental toxins and health began in the 1960s when scientists began to examine the correlation between disease and the environment. Research by scientists such as Mirko Beljanski, Ph.D. brought to light the fact that pollution in the environment is negatively affecting our DNA. Dr. Beljanski discovered that the normal structure of DNA is altered when exposed to pollutants in the environment.

Skin is an extremely absorbent organ, and we are in the habit of dousing it with all kinds of products that are meant to care for it. However, these products may have the effect of damaging our cells, causing more harm than good. Parabens (methyl, ethyl, propyl, butyl) are used in the vast majority of cosmetic products as synthetic chemical preservatives and are suspected endocrine disruptors. Phthalates are plasticizers that make cosmetics like lotion or nail polish the right consistency and extend their shelf life. They can be found in an astonishing array of products, and emerging scientific studies are linking them to lower hormone levels and reproductive problems in men. Unfortunately, these are just two of the many kinds of toxins that can be found in common skincare products on the market.

Skin is our largest organ and performs various vital functions such as protecting internal organs and regulating temperature. It is the first line of defense but unfortunately it is also impacted by environmental toxins that can penetrate directly into the bloodstream.
