Mirko Beljanski (1923 - 1998) shared the same passion that drives the fearless explorer, the patient archeologist and the innovative inventor: the passion for discovery. The conviction that a discovery will make a difference in people’s lives is what pushes the pioneer to overcome any obstacle. Throughout his career of more than 50 years as a biochemist, Dr. Beljanski faced many obstacles but was never swayed from his dedication to discovery and to improving the lives of others.

From his humble origins in the former Yugoslavia to his days as a research scientist at the celebrated Pasteur Institute in Paris, Mirko Beljanski knew his destiny. After receiving his Ph.D. from the Sorbonne in Paris, he began working at the Pasteur Institute, where he and his team devoted much of their research to cell regulation and replication, especially the role DNA and RNA play in cellular health.

As his team probed the innermost mechanisms of cell replication, Beljanski became particularly focused on aberrant physiological cell regulation, which happens when normal cell behavior goes awry. In 1960 he was awarded the Charles Leopold Mayer prize for his outstanding work on RNA synthesis, the core mechanism in cell multiplication. His discoveries led him to isolate and study several new substances which led to breakthroughs in his field and, ultimately, a unique line of dietary supplements, the Beljanski® products.
